I have enabled and setup fingerprint login using this software. SAo the scanner works – BUT through a third party add on. I have tried all of the tips I can find on Microsoft websites and they have done nothing. I have installed all of the latest updates available for my system from Microsoft. So after stuffing around with this for some time I did a system restore back to just after the windows 10 Upgrade was installed ie prior to any Windows Updates and installing any “new” Egistec Drivers.

The fingerprint option appears in the Sign In Options but is greyed out. To enable the fingerprint scanning you must enable windows “Hello”. To do this you have to create a pin. Once that is done the fingerprint option should be enabled and you can setup fingerprint login. Yesterday’s upgrade to RS1 seems to have “fixed” the fingerprint reader issue – at least for me. My system is the HP Envy.

Seems like someone heard me saying “effing Microsoft” every time my screen saver came on and I had to type in a 20 character strong password! Pray that someday, someway, someone is going to figure out how to properly manage support forums. Threats include any threat of suicide, violence, or harm to another.

If all else fails, find the hardware in the Device Manager, under secure biometric devices and uninstall the driver and software from there by right clicking it.

Then when windows reboots it may suddenly start working again. It did for me. As a further update i also got my original laptop suppliers PCSpecialist to send me the necessary drivers, so now its fully working on Windows 10, even though they are only intended for Windows 7. There is no option shown in Account-settings, but with additional Software “BioExcess” it will work.

Look in Device Manager under Universal Serial Bus controllers for your USB Hubs might have many different kinds of hubs double click it and check the Power Management tab for “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power”Make sure the box is not checked. I did this to all my hubs and it finally worked for me. Choose where you want to search below Search Search the Community. I have the same question He’s been involved in technology for more than a decade and knows a thing or two about the magic inside a PC chassis. You can follow him over on Twitter at RichEdmonds. Windows Central Windows Central. Rich Edmonds. Topics Windows Hello. See all comments I’m sure I bought this ans could never find the drivers.

Will have to dig it out tonight and see if I can get it working of its that model. It looks like it at least! I’ve been using this device for four weeks now, it really works great with Windows Hello. I can’t wait for Edge to get some Windows Hello integration so I can log into websites using my fingerprint.

It’s got it in the Anniversary Update, but you just need to find a site that supports it. Microsoft have a demo page that works to sign you into your Microsoft Account, unfortunately they haven’t implemented this in their production systems yet for things like OneDrive etc.

Really works well though, I tried their demo on my Lumia I have been using it to protect my stuff on those apps on my Surface Pro 4, Surface 3, and Lumia Do you mean when logging into those accounts in Edge? I have the apps installed on the device. If I do indeed have the model mentioned pretty sure this is the one I bought and couldn’t find drivers for then I’m going to stick this under my desk plugged into a USB extender to my desktop PC Then I can just do a little swipe on the bottom side of the desk and be signed in.

A PIN isn’t that big of a deal to enter but a swipe is even easier assuming it’s accurate. I got a fingerprint reader a while ago, and it was horrible. After the latest build, it’s been flawless. Where are people buying it? Found mine and it looks identical to the picture. Going to give it a go now.

If it does work now that I have the right driver I might order another for the office that I can leave connected to the Surface dock on my desk as I don’t have the keyboard with fingerprint reader. It worked! A bit hit and miss with accuracy but it might work better if I secure it to the desk and do the setup with it in that exact position.
